Arrangements for disabled voters discussed

Hyderabad: A meeting was conducted here today with the NGOs working towards empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and discussed about the arrangements to be made in the ensuing elections to the HOP-2019.

Electoral literacy Clubs have been formed at one in each Assembly Constituency under the chairmanship of Tahsildar, DPO of UCD, Supervisor from ICDS and one NGO working towards strengthening of the PwDs and mobilized the unenrolled PwDs for enrolment as voters. Totally, 371 PwDs have been enrolled as new voters and the total number of PwD voters mapped to the ERO net has been increased from 18042 to 20309 and Braille voter cards have been distributed to the visually challenged PwD voters.
Special message has been blasted to all the Property Tax Payers of GHMC with an appeal to enrol the eligible voters and the launching of the “Check Your Constituency by calling the special help line provided by the GHMC-1800-599-2999, 1950,through online services in www.nvsp.in or ceotelangana.gov.in or VAADA App/ or else visiting the near by Dy Commissioners offices of the GHMC in person.

Some 92 teams have been deployed and each team to cover around 10 to 12 polling stations per day to provide hands on experience to the voters on EVMs & VVPATs, creation of virtual polling station to have an idea of the facilities provided at each polling station, importance of ethical voting/ casting vote in the ensuing elections/ participation of the neglected stake holders like women, PwDs, Senior voters and first time voters, awareness on My Vote as a part of Chunav Patashala which will be completed by 04.04.2019 covering all the polling stations in the vicinity of Hyderabad & Secunderabad Parliamentary Constituencies of Hyderabad District.
Three Mobile teams have been constituted by the DEO, Hyderabad & Commissioner, GHMC to provide hands on experience on the functioning of EVMs & VVPATs and roaming round the areas where the polling percentage is low during the general elections-2018. So far, 36,700 voters have experienced the functioning of EVMs & VVPATs as on March 25 covering 908 polling locations out of 1,476 polling locations.

Special workshops have been conducted in the Vanitha Degree College, Goshamahal and Jawahar Lal Nehru Fine Arts College, Masab Tank to motivate the first-time voters. A schedule has been prepared to provide hands on experience to the PwD voters, arrangements made to mobilise the PwD voters like providing vehicles/positioning of volunteers @ one in each PS to assist the PwD voter/women/senior citizens voters to cast their vote in the ensuing elections to the HOP-2019. NSS/NCC volunteers have been identified @ 50 per Assembly Constituency to be drafted as volunteers on the day of poll and 1388 wheel chairs have been made ready towards mobilization of PwD/women/senior citizen voters. The Nodal Officers are conducting human chains, rallies and competitions to encourage the voters to participate in the ensuing elections.
