Arrangements completed for counting of votes for 7 AC: CEO

All Arrangements have been completed for taking up tomorrow the counting of votes polled in the seven Assembly Constituencies in Andhra Pradesh on March 18. Informing this to reporters here this evening, State Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said about 10.20 lakh votes of the total electorate of 13.81 lakh had been polled despite marriages, One-day International Cricket Match between India and Pakistan on the polling day.

Thanking the voters for casting their votes, Mr Bhanwarlal said the overall poll percentage registered in the seven assembly constituencies was 75 per cent, which is the highest percentage of polling in the by-poll. He said the electorate who had not voted should take a cue from them so that they would get motivated in the future elections.

The CEO said the counting of votes would start at 0800 hrs in five districts for the seven assembly constituencies. For Adilabad Assembly Constituency, the counting will be taken up at APTWRS&JC (Boys), for Kamareddy at Jeevadhan High School, for Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Kollapur assembly constituencies it will be taken up at Jaya Prakash Narayana Engineering College, Mahabubnagar, for Ghanpur (Station) at Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal and for Kovur in Government Polytechnic, Nellore. Mr Bhanwarlal said he had held a video-conference with the Collectors and Returning Officers to oversee the arrangements and added a media centre has been set up in the five districts where the counting will take place so that the Electronic Media would dessiminate the information like trends and results to the people.
