State Election Commission has directed all district collectors (except Hyderabad collector) to make special arrangement of Seher and Iftar for fasting Muslim government employees while they are on election duty during local Panchayat elections. Mr. Naveen Mittal secretary State Election Commission issued orders in this connection.
Explaining the problems faced by fasting Muslim government workers during Ramadan, various employees unions including Al-Mewa, Telangana Progressive Recognized Teacher Union, AP Primary Teachers Association and Joint organization of government employees TJAC had demanded to exempt state Muslim government employees from duty in view of the month of Ramadan. After reviewing the situation secretary State Election Commission Mr. Naveen Mittal issued orders to all district collectors to arrange for Seher and Iftar instead of exempting the employees from duty.
