HINDU VAHINI INVOLVED IN MAKKAH MASJID BLAST?

Hyderabad, June 18: Police evade disclosure, complete support to CBI

Whether the Hindu Vahini, Abhinav Bharat and other hindu outfits of Hyderabad were involved in the Makkah Masjid blast?

This is a question to which police is avoiding an answer, while preferring to completely cooperate with the CBI. Even though, either it was about Mumbai blasts or any other terror incident or terrorist activity in any part of the country, it was said that the terror activity is not possible without the role of local people and this point has always been given prominence. But this is the first time police avoid to speak about it.

High officials of the police themselves have time and again proclaimed in the past that those terror incidents and activities which were becoming a severe threat to nation’s security would be dealt with as a challenge. But the police’s reluctance to disclose the role of local persons in Makkah Masjid blast raises several questions. In this regard city commissioner of police, A. K. Khan said ‘police is probing into the matter and today two persons are shifted to the city whom police will interrogate.’ He however said ‘city police is ready to cooperate with CBI by all means and which ever support is asked for by the CBI it will be given completely.

Commissioner of police denied the fact that Muslim youth were arrested in Makkah Masjid blast case. He said ‘a total of 96 persons were arrested in the city in connection with various activities, of which 70 to 75 were released immediately after the interrogations, however 22 youth were put on trial who had more than one simcards and passports which they obtained from fake documents. He said ‘terror activity is becoming a severe threat to Nation’s security.’

Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Speaker A.P. Legislative Assembly advised the members of the Minority Welfare Committee to submit concrete proposals for minority welfare and development to the government rising above the party association. He urged them to identify the drawbacks prevailing in the system, to give special attention to the performance of minority departments and to preserve waqf properties.

He was addressing to the chairmen and members of minority welfare, women’s welfare and other committees. Along with the Deputy speaker Mr. N. Admitting the delay in setting up of minority welfare committee Assembly speaker said though the committee should have been set up in the last year itself but the death of Rajshekhar Reddy in a helicopter accident, and the resignations submitted by the members of the parliament in the name of movements in the state delayed the formation of the committee. He said people have a direct relation with every legislative committee and people’s hopes are associated with the committees hence it is the duty of the committees to fulfill the hopes of the people. Committees play key rule in legislation and minority welfare committee comprises of experienced and senior members and they would get full support of senior high officials. Committee consists of the representatives of different parties.

No matter their parties and flags are different yet they need to work rising above the party association for the development and welfare of the minorities. Action taken report is presented on the recommendations of the committee. In 1998 minority welfare committee made 28 recommendations, action taken report was presented for 26 of those recommendations in the assembly. In 2003 24 recommendations were submitted of which action taken report was presented for 21. In 2006 29 recommendations were submitted but action taken report was presented on just 6 of them. Newly formed committee should review as to why action taken report was not presented for the remaining.  There are so many issues related to the minorities, among them the important one being the safeguard and custody of waqf properties which include Urdu Academy, Minority Finance Corporation and Christian properties.

Referring to the scholarship scam of the past he said initially it was suspected a scam of 8 to 9 crore Rs but during the investigations of house committee 60 crore Rs. scam was revealed.

Dr Y S Rajshekar Reddy who worked as chief minister during 2004 to 2009 did immense work for the development and prosperity of minorities and introduced many welfare schemes but the minority section has not gained success in utilising those schemes. There are so many drawbacks in the implementation of those schemes, identifying those drawbacks and representing to government for the removal of those is the responsibility of the committee. Committee needs to work like a family. He said that While feeling proud of being made the chairman of the committee he was happy that senior and experienced leaders have been appointed as the members of the committee. He said ‘committee will call for a meeting atleast once in six months and get acknowledged with the problems by visiting districts.

TDP MLC Mr. Ibraheem bin Abdullah Masqati said ‘committee has so many duties incumbent upon it, the foremost responsibility is to review whether the schemes announced for minorities are implemented or not. Whether the budget that is allocated for the development and welfare of the minorities is being issued or not should also be taken into account. The high officials of various departments should extend their complete support for the committee.

President state Jamiatul Ulma and MLC Hafiz peer Shabbir Ahmed stated that there exist too many issues relating to minorities specially to Muslims, moreover the committee and also Ranganath Mishra committee in their respective reports, have declared the minorities backward among the backward classes. Government should take steps on the basis of the reports of these committees and committee should also compel the government to act upon those recommendations. Mr. Panigrahi, principal secretary minority welfare promised to extend his full support to the committee.
