Around 27 cops suspended in MP after Arms Act accused commits suicide in police station

Morena (Madhya Pradesh): Superintendent of Police Riyaz Iqbal on Monday suspended around 27 cops on duty at Dimani police station after an Arms Act accused committed suicide in the police lock-up.

The deceased, who was held under the Arms Act and allegedly committed suicide at Dimani police station on Monday, has been identified as Raghuraj Tomar. An inquiry has also been marked in the matter.

“Around 27 cops were on duty, and I have suspended all of them. I have also ordered an inquiry into the matter. The guilty will not be spared,” said Iqbal.

The kin of the deceased, who protested outside the police station and also blocked roads, alleged that Raghuraj was murdered in the police station. They sought an investigation into the matter. During protests, they also indulged in stone pelting on the police station.

In order to disperse the crowd, the police had to resort to mild lathicharge. Police said that a few cops and protestors were also injured in the stone pelting. Security has been beefed up in and around the police station.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Dimani police station. Further probe is on.
