NEW DELHI: A video of Republic TV Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami comes out all guns blazing against the former NDTV colleague Barkha Dutt is doing rounds.
A stinging personal attack against Dutt comes after the former senior journalist called Goswami’s act of gatecrashing Aparna Sen’s media briefing on open ‘Intolerance’ Letter To PM Modi on Thursday a “dangerous drivel”.
Dutt, retweeted the clip showing Arnab asking questions the Bengali filmmaker saying, “Anyone who watches and endorses this dangerous drivel has no right to ever criticize news media again. If this journalism, I’m the Indian prime minister.”
Without naming her, Goswami respond to her tweet by saying, “As for some currently unemployed and probably permanently unemployable ‘Radia types’ who have opinions on us, well if it helps them find a job, then it is probably worth it for them. Till then they can write another $500 sellout piece for some American piece of scrap.”
In reply to Arnab, Dutt tweeted, “Am told a certain ‘anchor’ spent more than a few minutes of air time on me, huffing, puffing, frothing, fuming. Clearly my one tweet on him really punctured his bombast. Amused! Hope you set aside a few minutes of your show on me every night. Maybe it will get more watchable.”
On Sen’s press conference, Arnab started shouting from the phone line and started attacking her.
Sen however just laughed at the questions raised by Goswami calling them ‘What aboutery”.
“I am not going to answer any of your ‘What aboutery”. Please address the issue. I am not going to answer you,” Sen said.
It is worth mentioning that 49 celebrities from different fields written an open letter to Prime Minister Modi against the alleged rise in “religious identity-based hate crimes”, including incidents of lynching in the country over the past few years.
