Bangkok, April 10: Thai soldiers have used water cannon to disperse about 200 anti-government protesters who surrounded a military base in the capital, the scene of weeks of mass rallies, an army spokesman said.
“Two hundred protesters surrounded the First Army regional headquarters and some of them shook the main gate. Soldiers used water cannon to disperse them,” said Colonel Sunsern Kaewkumnerd, adding that nobody was hurt in the incident.
Riot police were also seen gathering close to the Red Shirt demonstrators’ main rally site in the capital’s commercial district.
