New Delhi, February 22: The Army was today pulled up by the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) for “tinkering” with the time-tested rules in case of promotions as it heard the petition of two Lieutenant Generals for elevation as Corps Commanders.
Hearing a petition filed by Lt Gen P G Kamath and Lt Gen J S Bajwa, the Tribunal Bench headed by Justice A K Mathur also asked the Army to file a report within this week on whether the two officers can be considered for the post or not.
“Lt Gen P G Kamath and Lt Gen J S Bajwa should be considered for the post as there is nothing in the policy which prohibits their appointment as Corps Commander,” the Bench said.
