Army pays tribute to two soldiers killed in Pakistan firing

Jammu: The Indian Army on Tuesday paid tributes to the two soldiers killed in Pakistan firing on the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devinder Anand said: “A wreath-laying ceremony was organised in the honour of bravehearts, Rifleman Vinod Singh and Rifleman Jaki Sharma, who laid down their lives guarding the nation’s frontiers while serving at LoC in Sunderbani sector.”

A military send-off was organised at Akhnoor, where wreaths were laid on behalf of Lieutenant General D. Anbu, Army Commander, Northern Command, and Lieutenant General Saranjeet Singh, GOC – White Knight Corps.

“Rifleman Vinod Singh and Rifleman Jaki Sharma were dedicated, brave and sincere soldiers and thorough professionals. The nation will remain indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” Anand said.
