Islamabad, December 23: The Pakistani army has killed at least 32 people in airstrikes on pro-Taliban militants in Orakzai tribal region near the Afghan border.
Pakistani troops targeted four militant positions in Orakzai’s Dabori area on Friday afternoon, killing at least 12 militants.
Late on Thursday, Pakistani jet fighters, backed by artillery, pounded militant hideouts in Akwan Kot, Chappar and Bal Ras areas of the tribal belt.
At least 23 others were also wounded in the attacks, which continued for several others and saw the destruction of seven militant hideouts and underground bunkers.
On Wednesday, militants attacked security forces in Kagu Qamar, also in Orakzai agency, leaving 22 security officers wounded.
Militants also attacked a security post in Malazai area of the Tank district in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing a soldier and wounding two others.
In a separate incident Punjab Province, four security forces were injured when masked gunmen opened fire on a checkpoint in Faisalabad city.
No group has claimed responsibility for the Friday attacks on Pakistani security forces.
