Army Major, three soldiers martyred while foiling infiltration bid by militants

New Delhi: An army major and three other soldiers of 36RR are reported to have martyred in the line of duty at north Kashmir’s Gurez after the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday.

According to PTI reports, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Choudhary called it a ceasefire violation and said the incident happened when the army foiled the infiltration bid by the terrorist.

It is also reported that a group of 8 militants were attempting to infiltrate into the Indian territory and were intercepted by the security personnel at Govind Nallah in Gurez sector of Bandipore district which killed at least two militants in the subsequent exchange of fire, while four others managed to run back to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Martyred soldiers have been identified as Major K P Rane, hawaldars Jamie Singh and Vikramjeet and rifleman Mandeep.
