Srinagar, December 29: An army jawan was critically injured when a group of unidentified militants, who had laid ambush, opened fire on road opening party (ROP) in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The suspected militants opened fire on ROP in Dera Ki Gali area of Bafliaz Sector in Surankote last evening while the army personnel retaliated triggering a gun battle in which one jawan identified as Sarabjeet Singh of 16 RR was injured, official sources told UNI today.
The area was cordoned off the operation continued for hours but called off due to darkness, they added.
