Expressing satisfaction over the troops’ general preparedness to deal with any challenge, Chief of the Army Staff General Bikram Singh today stressed the need of its due and timely modernisation. Addressing officers at the Sapta Shakti Command headquarters here today, General Singh said ‘We are prepared and capable of facing any challenge. He said that in the given constitutional and statutory space/limits the army was required to discharge its duty with all dedication. Expressing, the need of due modernisation of the army, the General said that the modernisation programme was expected to be accomplished duly in a time-bound fashion. General Singh reached here this morning on his first 2-day visit to the Pink City after assuming the present post a couple of months ago. He interacted with officers and soldiers and also met veterans/ ex-servicemen. The Army Chief also called on Governor Margaret Alva at the Rajbhawan here. UNI
