Srinagar : Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh visited Siachen glacier on Thursday to review situation, where an avalanche claimed lives of 10 Indian soldiers on February 3 burying them alive under 25 feet of snow.
The Army Chief also visited the sites where nine soldiers had lost their lives; while one soldier, Hanumanthappa, died in a Delhi hospital after her was rescued.
He interacted with the soldiers serving at Siachen and commended them for their outstanding work in difficult conditions.
He exhorted them to be careful to the avalanche threats.
The Army Chief also met porters, who work tirelessly to maintain the posts at those difficult conditions in Siachen.
The Army Chief was accompanied by the Northern Army Commander Lt General D.S. Hooda and Corps Commander Lt General SK Patyal. (ANI)
