Arms Licence holders asked to deposit weapons with police

In connection with the ensuing Biennial Elections to Legislative Council for Teacher’s Constituencies to be held in the Twin Cities on March 9, Commissioner of Police M. Mahendar Reddy, IPS, today asked all the holders of Arms Licences in Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad to deposit their Weapons with Police Stations concerned or Authorized Arms Dealers on or before February 21 under intimation to the concerned Police Stations.

However, those issued to persons employed on guard duty on the premises of Nationalised Banks, Public Sector undertakings and security personnel in the Twin Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad need not deposit their weapons.

The police commissioner warned that those failing to deposit their weapons will be dealt with as per law and the weapons would be confiscated and erring persons would be prosecuted. Weapons so deposited may be taken back by the Licence Holders on or after March 20 after completion of the election process, he added. (NSS)
