Armed processions have become a fashion for BJP: Mayawati

Lucknow: Taking a dig at BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati alleged that processions and armed protests without government approval were “in fashion” among BJP leaders. She also claimed that the central government is sheltering and encouraging them.

Mayawati exposed the “double standards” of BJP in dealing with similar situations in states where it was in power and in states where it was not. She said BJP tried to bring the Bengal government to the witness box when the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal took action against armed rallies during Ram Navami. While in Bihar the government is trying to save Union minister’s son who is accused in the similar case. It must be noted that in Bihar, a case was lodged against Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwani Choubey’s son in connection with communal clashes during a procession in Bhagalpur district on Friday. She also slammed Nitish Kumar government for trying to save the BJP Union minister’s son and also the BJP central government for trying to cover it up.

Mamata said taking out illegal armed processions by BJP every now and then has become a fashion. She stressed the need to deal strictly with those who play with law and order.
