New Delhi, August 12: Congress today appeared to be having no problem with senior leader Arjun Singh putting the blame on the Union Home Ministry then headed by P V Narasimha Rao for allowing safe passage to Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson after the Bhopal tragedy.
“We believe it is important to look forward,” party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said when asked by reporters how the AICC views Singh’s insinuation against Rao.
Natarajan, who was subjected to a volley of questions on Singh’s statement, which also sought to give a clean chit to then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, said that what the senior leader has said “speaks for itself”.
“I am not a spokesperson for Arjun Singh ji or Home Ministry of that time or Government of that time,” was her response when asked whether she endorses what Singh said.
