The Arjuna Awardees holding Complimentary Card Passes, for lifelong free train travel all over India, issued by Indian Railways in honour of their achievements in the field of Sports are now entitled for travel in 2nd AC and 3rd AC in Rajadhani Express and Chair Car in Shatabdi Express also.
According to the South Central Railways, earlier, Arjuna Awardees are entitled for free travel in 1st Class / 2nd AC by all trains except by Rajdhani Expresses / Shatabdi Expresses / Duronto Expresses. The companion allowed for an Arjuna Awardee when he attains the age of 65 years shall also be entitled to travel in the same Class along with
Arjuna Awardee in Rajdhani / Shatabdi Express.
The SCR spokespersons said that the privilege has been extended to Arjuna Awardees only and not to other sports persons who are Olympic Medalists, Gold Medalists in Asian/Common Wealth Games and Dronacharya Awardees who are holding Complimentary Card Passes issued by Indian Railways. (INN)
