With the arrival of Ramadan the environment is filled with spiritual breeze as musallis throng towards the masajids. The faithfuls in Hyderabad observe Ramadan with great religious fervour. But there are dozens of Masajid in the city and outskirts which have been closed for devotees. Archaeological department is playing a very negative role in this.
One such masjid is the historical 400 year old Masjid Shaikh located at Shaikhpet crossroad. It is in very dilapidated condition. While the masjid door is locked by Archaeological department, a pot maker has set up pot kiln at its entrance.
State Minority Commission Chairman Mr. Abid Rasool Khan inspected the masjid from outside and assured locals that the commission will seek a report about the masjid. TRS MLC Mahmood Ali and social activist Muneeruddin Mujahid also reached the spot.
Meanwhile BJP leader Mohan Reddy gathered a mob near the mosque and told media that local people will not allow to rehabilitate the mosque even if Muslims try to open the lock with legal procedure it will not be tolerated.
