Dubai, June 08: Oficials of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of Dubai arrested an Arab national for allegedly selling fake medicines for enhancing sexual capabilities such as viagra, Cialis, Snafe, etc.
Colonel Salem Al Rumaithi, Deputy Director of General Department of Criminal Investigation, on receving a tip-off in mid-May the police were following the suspect. He was nabbed in an undercover operation when a cop posed as a customer and called him up. He agreed to meet the said cop in Deira to hand over the medicines. He was arrested while taking money from the policeman.
The police seized 70,000 capsules from his car and house.
Fake saffron
In another case, an Asian woman was arrested for allegedly selling fake saffron. Police were informed that the said woman was selling saffron for Dh10,000 per kilo when the market price was only Dh80 a kilo. Police confiscated 775kg of fake saffron in her possession.
On inspection, it was found that the stuff was vermicelli, which was coloured to make it look like saffron.
