APYC plans tree plantation on Rajiv’s anniversary

The Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress will launch Green India-Tree Plantation Drive across the State on August 20 to mark 68th birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, APYC president Ch Vamshi Chand Reddy said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana would launch the programme formally at Gandhi Bhyavan by planting a sapling on that day. He said that 40,000 saplings would be planted on the day by the youth Congress workers across the state. He said that the drive was taken up at Assembly premises, where a minimum of 100 saplings would be planted by Assembly Youth Congress Committee. He said that the success of the programme would be monitored for every 6 months.

Meanwhile, NSUI state president Rajiv Ratan said that NSUI would organize blood donation camps across the State on August 20 to mark birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He said that about 500 activists from the youth wing in each district would participate in the blood donation camp. He said that the Chief Minister has assured them that the government would resolve the fee reimbursement issue soon and take steps to save the academic calendar. (INN)
