Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists’ Federation (APWJF) has decided to conduct a special conference here on the issues of small newspapers and electronic media.
The decision was taken at the State executive meeting of the Federation chaired by its State president M S Hashmi.
In a statement here, Harshmi demanded that the APWJF should be given proper representation in the Accreditation Committee. Expressing displeasure over physical attacks on the journalists in the State, he demanded that the government initiate steps to prevent such brutal attacks on mediapersons. He also deplored the inordinate delay in the renewal of Mediclaim Insurance of the journalists. Due to the delay, the journalists and their families faced hardships for the past three months, he added. He also thanked the government for finally releasing its share under Mediclaim scheme.
He also made it clear that APWJF was not affiliated to any political party. He strongly condemned the baseless allegations that the APWJF was an affiliated body of a political party.(NSS)
