AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the State Electricity Department suffered Rs 1,200 crore loss due to Hudhud cyclone that devastated the north coastal Andhra districts.
The Chief Minister today reviewed relief operations in the cyclone affected areas in the district at a meeting with district Collectors. He said 13,000 people were working in the cyclone affected areas to restore power supply. Some 30,000 electric poles have to be procured for erecting in the cyclone-hit areas, he said.
The Chief Minister said a rally would be organized along the Vizag beach on October 23 with a theme “Let us win over cyclone”. Naidu said his government was taking effective measures to provide essential commodities to 14 lakh families in cyclone-ravaged areas and the Fair Price dealers have been asked to supply commodities to the people on production of identity cards. Chandrababu Naidu, who is camping here for the last one week to supervise cyclone relief and rehabilitation works, is likely to go to Hyderabad this evening. (NSS)
