AP Transco chairman and Managing Director Ajay Jain on Monday expressed his displeasure over the inordinate delay in setting up of 400 KV sub-stations in the State. He also directed the officials to cancel the contracts and blacklist the companies which failed to achieve the target in setting up of transformers.
Ajay Jain held a teleconference with Joint MD P Ramesh, Project Director Umakar Rao, Chief Engineers, Superintendent Engineers and representatives of contracting companies.
Interacting with the officials, Ajay Jain instructed the officials to cancel tenders if the contracting companies failed to complete the works on time and also blacklist them. Though some companies have no capability to execute contracts of electricity departments, they got the works quoting low rates and delaying the works citing various reasons. Except technical reasons, no other reasons should be considered for delay in works. The companies should be blacklisted if the works were delayed due to lack of funds, work force and lack of infrastructure, he told the officials.
Pointing out delay in setting up of towers and laying cables causing inconvenience to the Transco as well as the people, Jain regretted that the government and organizations were being blamed due to the mistakes of some companies.
He also pointed out that laying electricity lines would almost all solve the problems pertaining to electricity supply. (NSS)
