APTDC has identified sites for reservoirs: Minister

Andhra Pradesh State Minister for Tourism Vatti Vasanta Kumar today informed the state assembly the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has identified seven reservoirs and three irrigation sites for development of tourism corridors in the state. He informed the members during the Question Hour that seven reservoirs, including dindi, Jurala, Kadem, Sriram Sagar , Gundlakamma , Yeleru and Brahmasagar and three irrigation sites, including Cheetakoduru and Aswaraopally (both Warangal district) and Velligallur (Kadapa district) in the state had been identified for development of tourism corridors in the state.

Expression of interest from the entrepreneurs for setting up of the tourism sites had been invited and 162 applications had been received so far, he said. Referring to Peddagada reservoir to Araku in Visakhapatnam district, the Minister clarified that there was no proposal for development of reservoir as tourist corridor. However, ITDA Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district proposed to operate a boat with a capacity of 20-30 through tribal fishing society and requested APTDC to provide a boat, the Minister informed.
