Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy on Sunday stated that the government was making all efforts to address the problems being faced by constables working in the battalions of Andhra Pradesh Special Police in the State.
Talking to media persons, she said that the Home department would convene a meeting of all Director Generals of APSP battalions on Monday to address the problems of lower rung staff. Stating that the department would resolve the issue within a week, she appealed to the wives of constables to withdraw their agitation immediately. She said that the government has taken note of the severity of the issue and would take a decision on it after discussing the same with Director Generals.
Sabitha Reddy said that the government would take a decision on granting leave to constables working in battalions and might change the rules relating to working conditions. Responding to the allegations that 8th battalion commandant Ramesh Naidu was seeking bribes to sanction leave from constables, she said that the government would order investigation into the issue and take serious action against the officials, if proved guilty.
