APSET scheduled for today cause inconvenience to Muslim candidates

(Siasat News) Lecturer’s recruitment test which is now called APSET and which is a substitute for the National Eligibility test conducted every year by Union Grants Commission is causing inconvenience to Muslim candidates during Ramzan period. The timings of the above test are fixed from 9.30 to 12 and 1.30 to 4 p.m. in such a case, the Muslim candidates are likely to miss Friday prayer which is very important. Normally such competitive tests are kept on Sundays or holidays to ensure maximum participation without causing any inconvenience to the candidates.

By fixing such odd timings for the said test, Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Govt. is giving and impression that it is the Govt. of Sangh Parivaar. People are asking the questions, is it Andhra Pradesh or Sangh Pradesh? The total number of candidates which take this test is likely to be around one lakh out of which there may be at least 30,000 Muslim candidates. If the Govt. was forced to schedule the test on Friday, it should have taken into consideration the timings of Friday’s prayer which is obligatory for every Muslim. It may not be out of place to bring it to the notice of MR. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, C.M. of A.P. and Mr. Damodhar Raja Narasimha, Deputy C.M. and Higher Education Minister that the vice chancellor of Telangana university Prof. Mohammed Akbar Ali Khan and Minorities Welfare Minister Mr. Mohammed Ahmedullah are the members responsible for conducting these tests. It is very surprising that they neglected the convenience of the Muslim candidates who would be deprived of offering Friday prayer if they appear in the said examination.

As per the regulations of this test, the candidates are not allowed to go out of the examination centers. They are forced to stay in the premises of the examinations centers from 9.30 am. To 4 pm

The parents of the candidates and the candidates belonging to Muslim community have requested the authorities to change the timings of the test to facilitate them to offer Friday Prayer.
