Hyderabad, April 08: The state has prepared ground for agribusiness revolution in the 12th Plan. chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy explained to the Planning Commission the steps initiated by the state towards achieving food security and also in achieving reforms in various sectors during his discussion with the Planning Commission while finalising the state’s annual plan outlay for 2011-12.
The Planning Commission has acknowledged the fact that Andhra Pradesh is a front-runner state in the country on the development front and has completed reforms process in power sector, irrigation, municipal administration and urban development etc. and is a major contributor to food security in the country.
The chief minister said that the food production is expected to go up from 200 lakh MTs to 300 lakh MTs.
The horticulture production is slated to go up from 205 lakh tons to 265 lakh tons.
The livestock sector is slated for a robust 10 percent growth in the 12th Plan.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that because of the initiatives taken up in the last six years, the state is on road to achieve millennium development goals by 2015 on poverty, literacy, gender balance and access to health and drinking water front.
He explained to the Planning Commission that performance under all flagship programmes has picked up considerably and the state is set to achieve the number one position in the implementation of the 20-point programme in 2010-11. This year more than 6,500 habitations have been covered under drinking water.
The Planning Commission has appreciated the state for launching Badi Bata to cover 1.17 lakh school dropouts.
State gearing up for 12th Plan
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy held detailed discussion on the financial matters of the state with the Planning Commission while finalising the state’s annual plan outlay. He also discussed about the preparedness of the state for the 12th Five Year Plan. Keeping in view of the preparatory arrangements for 12th Plan by the Planning Commission, AP is also gearing up by involving some of the departments and academic institutions in identifying the appropriate growth strategies and preparing papers for its effective implementation. Working groups to support preparation of the 12th Five Year Plan will be constituted.
He said, in spite of financial crunch and launching a number of multi crore welfare schemes, AP never violated the FRBM norms.
He also explained to the commission about the preparation and circulation of standard tables and graphs for analysis of socioeconomic data for preparation of district development plans. An integrated data system was set up with networking of all district CPO offices with a central server in the planning department, a press release issued by the CM’s office said here on Saturday.
