Government’s efforts to appoint Chief Executive Officer in Waqf Board to improve the performance of the Board are being thwarted by some corners. Government is interested to appoint a high official belonging to revenue department as the Chief Executive Officer of Waqf Board. In this connection the file was sent to Chief Minister’s Office after Secretary Minority Welfare’s approval. in the meantime the file is reportedly lost before it could reach Chief Minister’s Office.
Reportedly some elements don’t want that a permanent officer is appointed in Waqf Board. The government is facing difficulty due to alleged nexus between some elements of Waqf Board and Minority Welfare staff of Secretariat.
