Hyderabad, August 25: Secunderabad Cantonment MLA P Shankar Rao on Tuesday urged the state government to appoint a Chairman and Members for the SC/ST Commission and Andhra Pradesh Women Commission immediately.
Mr Shankar Rao told media persons after submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister K Rosaiah on behalf of Scheduled Castes Rights Protection Society that the appointments were long overdue and the state government should expedite the appointments.
He also appealed to government to refund the pending dues of tuition fee of professional college students. The MLA also urged the government to start recruitments for all vacant posts reserved for SC/ST candidates in various departments.
Mr Shankar also demanded that the government announce an allowance of Rs 1,000 unemployment allowance for the jobless youth in the state. He urged the government to pass a resolution in the Assembly on the implementation of Reservations in private sector and send it to Centre for approval.
The Cantonment MLA’s memorandum called for implementation of all other long pending demands of Dalits.
Scheduled Castes Rights Protection Society state president M Muthanna, secretary general D Sudharshan Babu and treasurer K Komaraiah were present during Mr Shankar Rao’s meeting with the Chief Minister.
