Apple executive killing: UP cops observe ‘Black Day’ to support murderous constable

LUCKNOW: A large section of the Uttar Pradesh police force, many constables men and women reported to duty sporting black bands were suspended on Friday for leading ‘Black Day’ protest in favour of Prashant Chowdhary, the constable accused of killing an Apple executive in the state capital last Saturday.

The colleagues of the accused constable sport black bands and openly expressed their solidarity with the accused constable and also a crowdfunding campaign was started on the social media platforms to cover the legal expenses of the murderous constable.

Senior police officers have warned that policemen violating force’s discipline would lose their jobs, deputy inspector general (DIG) law and order Pravin Kumar said.

On Thursday, the lone eyewitness, Sana Khan, in the Tiwari death case recorded her statement in the Lucknow Sessions Court amid heavy security.

On October 2, Sana had revealed that Constable Prashant Chaudhary allegedly shot Vivek Towari from the front. “We were returning home when 2 bike-borne police personnel – Prashant and Sandeep – came from the front and Prashant shot at him. The bullet was fired from the front. Few truck-drivers were present there but they didn’t help,” she had told reporters here.

Vivek Tiwari was returning home in the early hours of September 29, when he was allegedly shot on his chin by a police constable for refusing to stop his vehicle.
