Appeal to observe ‘day of betrayal’ today

Hyderabad, December 23: Telangana Rashtra Samithi yesterday appealed the people to observe December 23, as the day of betrayal and stage protest rallies against UPA government at the centre.

Senior party leader N Narsimha Reddy talking to news persons said that on December 9, 2009 union home minister P Chidambaram had announced to begin Telangana formation but after the protest by Seema Andhra leaders he suddenly changed his statement on December 23 the same year. Thus the central government at the behest of Seema Andhra leaders had betrayed Telangana people.

Narsimha Reddy said that Seema Andhra leaders are misleading Congress high command and are trying to give the impression that Telangana people do not have a passion in favour of separate state. On the contrary Telangana people are in favour of separate state and more than 700 youth have sacrificed their lives for Telangana, he claimed.
