The country’s second largest company in the sector by revenue, Apollo tyres, has announced that it would start its 2-wheeler tyre production from its upcoming plant in Hungary by January 2017. The company is set to offer both radial and bias tyres in next few years.
The company Vice Chairman and Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar said they would double the Chennai plant to sell 5 lakh 2-wheeler tyres per month over the next 2 years. The 2-wheeler tyres have been designed and developed by the company’s R&D Center in Chennai. Apollo will need to compete against entrenched 2-wheeler tyre makers like MRF, Ceat and TVS Srichakra.
