APNGOs today called for a two-day Seemandhra bandh from January 17 in protest against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, APNGOs president P Ashok Babu said the two-day bandh in the Seemandhra region would be observed on January 17 and 18 to protest the decision of the Centre to bifurcate the State. He also said they would lay a siege to the Assembly on January 20. As part of the bandh, all-party meetings would be held in all districts in the Seemandhra region on January 14, he said. “We will take up a unique program of dumping copies of Telangana Bill in the Bhogi Mantalu”, he said and urged all political parties to extend cooperation and make this protest program a grand success”.
Ashok Babu demanded that Samaikhyandhra leaders give assurance in the presence of people that they would not allow division of the State. It was responsibility of the members to see that the Assembly did not adjourn as there was need for a comprehensive debate on the bill, he added. NSS)
