APCET Begins; DY CM Picks Question Papers

Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha early this morning picked APCET question papers in a draw of lots. The Deputy CM selected the question papers through lottery system at 5 am at his residence in the Ministers Quarters.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajanarasimha described the first question paper as Blue Booklet. He said that AP CET was being conducted in the State after 13 years and the government was taking it as a prestige issue. He also said the question papers would reach all the examination centers by 7.30 am and all arrangements have been made not to cause any inconvenience to the examinees. He also asked the 12 regional examination conveners to open question paper boxes sharply at 9 am.

Meanwhile, the APCET, which is being conducted for selection of teachers in the degree and university colleges, began this morning at 194 centers in 12 towns in the State. The examination for the first paper is held from 9.30 am to 10.45 am, second paper from 10.45 am to 12 noon and third paper from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. In all, 1,17,793 candidates have applied for the examination which is being conducted on the lines of National Eligibility Test (NET) by the UGC. (NSS)
