Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr. N. Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday demanded special package for seven most backward districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons at Indira Bhavan, Raghuveera Reddy said that the previous UPA Government provided Rs. 70-90 crore to each of the seven districts, including four districts of Rayalaseema, every year. The AP Reorganisation Act too has made special provision for creation of social infrastructure and special development packages for the seven districts. However, the TDP Government is not taking any steps to implement the recommendations.
Raghuveera Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was showering sops on Bihar in view of Assembly elections. However, so far he paid no attention towards the backward districts of Andhra Pradesh, he alleged. He also expressed concern over AP losing 200 medical seats this year. (INN)
