National-award-winning filmmaker Aparna Sen today came out in support of Bollywood star Aamir Khan over his intolerance remark, saying the matter was blown out of proportion and it was his democratic right to say what he felt as a responsible Indian.
“I think it is being blown out of proportion, Aamir and Kiran were voicing their fears. They never said they want to leave India. Aamir has explained it later,” Sen said.
“You see people like M M Kalburgi being killed… And not enough has been done against this. Nobody is saying India is intolerant, Aamir also didn’t say that India is intolerant. But there are growing incidents of intolerance,” she observed.
“Being a patriotic Indian, who has made a wondeful series of Satyameva Jayeta, I think he has every right to be worried about it. We should not blow this out of proportion,” Sen told reporters on the sidelines of a programme here.
