Mumbai: Domestic air passengers body APAI today said the Delhi airport authorities “unilateral” move to partially shift flight operations to the refurbished terminal 1 (T1) will result in “utter confusion and chaos.”
In a strongly-worded statement today, Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) said it vehemently opposes the splitting of operations between the two terminals — T1 and T2 — which it said is against the interest of passengers.
A revamped T2 will open from Saturday after seven years and while GoAir has agreed to shift its entire operations from T1, IndiGo and SpiceJet have refused to relocate their operations to T2.
“This proposal, if implemented, will seriously undermine and impair the convenience of passengers, since they will have to move from one terminal to the other to catch connecting flights. This could mean de-boarding the aircraft from one terminal, only to re-board the aircraft from another terminal which is wholly and completely unnecessary.
“We also apprehend that in the process, many passengers may miss their flights while commuting between the two terminals, given the distance between them,” D Sudhakara Reddy, Founder and national president of APAI, said.
