AP, TS talks on joint RTC properties fail

A meeting held between the two Telugu speaking States on sharing of joint RTC properties  ended without fruitful results.

The officials of RTCs of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh met today to discuss on sharing of RTC properties. The meeting remained inconclusive. The APSRTC officials demanded 58 per cent share in joint properties. However, the Telangana officials agreed to have shares in Bus Bhavan only. But, the AP officials did not agree on this and demanded voting on sharing of joint properties.

Telangana officers rejected their offer and wanted to send two proposals to the Centre for its intervention in sharing of joint RTC properties. Informed sources said the APSRTC prepared a de-merger plan showing 14 properties as headquarters properties which is in violation of the Central government clarification.

The TSRTC also prepared a de-merger plan in tune with the clarification given by the Centre. The TSRTC was requested to send both proposals to the Central government. APSRTC did not agree for the same and went ahead on voting without taking into consideration the views of Telangana directors. The board has no authority to pass any resolution against the Central government’s clarification. Finally, the directors of Telangana walked out of the board meeting. (NSS)
