AP transfers 45 SPs with IG promotion

Hyderabad, April 20: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Andhra Pradesh government today transferred and promoted 45 IPS officers from the rank of Superintendent of Police to Inspector General.

Seven SPs belonging to 1996-batch have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. As many as 10 districts got new police heads in the reshuffle, state Chief Secretary S V Prasad said.

The government also created four new urban police units in Tirupati, Guntur, Rajahmundry and Warangal, which has been a long-pending demand. These new units each will be headed by an Officer-on-Special-Duty in the rank of SP, he said.

Two of the officers transferred have been directed to report to the DGP for postings.
