Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said there was a chance of a Backward Class leader becoming chief minister in Andhra Pradesh in near future.
Speaking at the felicitation function organised by Rajya Sabha member and convener of BC MPs V Hanumantha Rao at Ravindra Bharathi here on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi was keen on delivering social justice to the BCs and making him Chief Minister of Karnataka was a best example. He said he came from a poor BC family and fully aware of the problems of the poor. He said he would spare no efforts to solve their problems. He also opined that there was disunity among the BCs since ages and that was the reason why powerful eluded them.
Stating that the Congress was only committed to social justice, he said every section of the society must strive, irrespective of their caste and creed, to make AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. He wanted development of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with mutual cooperation and improving relations between these two States.
Alleging that the BJP was a communal party, Siddaramaiah said Karnataka people taught a fitting lesson to the saffron party. He said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mayajal” (magic wand) did not work in Karnataka elections.
Speaking on the occasion, V. Hanumantha Rao said the BCs would get justice only with the Congress party. Pointing out that the ‘Reddy’ community was ruling the State since decades, he opined that poor people’s lives will be better only if BCs were elevated to the top posts.
Several Backward Classes’ Associations in the State also felicitated the Karnataka Chief Minister on the occasion. Hailing Congress victory in Karnataka Assembly elections, they said it was a good omen for the Congress party to retain power at the Centre in the next general elections.
Union Ministers of State Panabaka Laxmi, Rahman Khan, Balaram Naik, Srikanth Jena, Sarve Satyanarayana, State Ministers N Raghuveera Reddy, Pithani Satyanarayana, Danam Nagender, Basavaraju Saraiah, Dokka Manikya Varaprasada Rao, Prasada Kumar, Mukesh Goud, Rajya Sabha member T.
