AP temple staff to defer agitation

Hyderabad, October 30: With talks between the state government and temple employees turning fruitful, the Andhra Pradesh Temple Employees Association has decided to defer its agitation by a month.

Priests and temple staff have been staging protests demanding implementation of pay revision on par with the state government employees.

The temple staff including priests went on a day-long strike yesterday and stayed away from performing Arjitha sevas causing inconvenience for the devotees.

The state government which invited the temple staff for discussions on Friday, assured them that it will take appropriate measures in a month without awaiting for the final report of the Justice A Venkatrami Reddy Committee expected to be submitted in two months.

Principal secretary for endowments KV Ramanachary wheld talks with the representatives of temple staff and stated that the state government is committed to resolve their problems at the earliest.
