AP techie among Pune blast victims

Hyderabad, February 16: The terror attack in Pune has claimed the life of a Hyderabadi, Piduri Sindhuri. The 22-year-old software engineer from the Birla Institute of Technology (Mesra), was at the German Bakery near the Koregaon Park in Pune on Saturday night along with four of her friends when the bomb went off.

Even as the channels flashed the news of the explosion, the Piduri family did not have any inkling about Sindhuri, as her name was given as P Sundari.

‘‘None of us expected this. We hadn’t imagined that she could be a victim of a terror attack.

We came to know of it only when one of Sindhuri’s friends called up her parents and broke the tragic news,’’ the girl’s uncle told Express.

Sindhuri ’s parents, P Sivaprasada Rao and P Kalyani, who live at AS Rao Nagar in the city, immediately rushed to Pune to identify the body.

Both of them are in a shock.

‘‘Ila jaruguthundi ani anukoledamma (never expected that this would happen),’’ was all that her mother Kalyani could manage to tell Sindhuri’s friends who came from Bangalore.

As a pall of gloom descended on their residence, she was heard lamenting that she was overjoyed when Sindhuri got through the campus placement and started working in Amdocs as a software programmer. Her relatives recalled that she had wanted to work for a couple of years in order to gain experience and then, proceed to the US for an MS degree.

An employee of ECIL in Hyderabad, Sivaprasada Rao, as he sat in the drawing room, was still not in a position to come to grips with reality.

Initially, he was the one who mustered courage and informed his relatives of Sindhuri’s death. His relatives said he could not bear the thought of his daughter’s corpse lying there in Pune to be identified.

Sindhuri is survived by her parents and a sister Kavya. Her body was cremated on Monday.
