Even as a controversy over collection of Motor Vehicle tax on vehicles entering Telangana from Andhra was resolved with the intervention of Hyderabad High Court, yet another controversy raging between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments over the conduct of EAMCET.
Though the APSCHE issued a notification for certificate verification for conducting EAMCET, Telangana Education Ninister G. Jagadish Reddy asked the students not to attend certificate verification stating that a separate counseling for Telangana students would be conducted.
Under the circumstances, Higher Education Council chairman Venugopal Reddy today called on AP Chief Secretary I V R Krishna Rao and had a two-hour meeting with him. The Higher Education Council has decided to implead in the petition being heard by Supreme Court.
The APHEC will file an implead petition on Friday in the apex court. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court stating that Telangana government was delaying the conduct of EAMCET.
Only after a judgment of Supreme Court the admission process would commence, said AP minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao and added that counseling dates would be finalized.within two or three days.
Meanwhile, the Osmania University students staged protests in front of the chamber of Venugopal Reddy today protesting against the EAMCET notification. They alleged that Higher Education Council was trying to do injustice to Telangana students. “How a notification could be issued without any judgment of the Supreme Court which is hearing a petition. The protestors warned that they would prevent EAMCET engineering counciling. (NSS)
