“Sky is the limit to the leaders of the market, who have come forward to invest in the Sunrise State – Andhra Pradesh” said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in his keynote address in the valedictory session of 22nd edition of CII Partnership Summit- 2016, concluded here today.
While being ecstatic to share the final outcome of the 3-day summit, jointly organized by organised by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Govt. of India and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Chief Minister said 331 MoUs were signed with various companies involving investment of about Rs.4.78 lakh crore and it will create employment to nearly 10 lakh aspirants. With the same distinction of making his mark of divergent colours of dynamism in the entire summit, the Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu planned for the successive summit with usual aplomb.
“The 23rd Edition of our CII partnership summit 2017 at this same venue- Visakhapatnam, will make us review the MoUs already inked, while going for a new bunch of MoUs,” he said. Thus, he firmly indicated that he will firmly be after the grounding of all the MoUs being signed. The Chief Minister, who successfully persuaded CII and the Union Commerce Ministry to have the next summit here, went ahead to call for a forum in the lines of World Economic Forum- Davos that also engages the political, intellectual and other leaders of civil society, NGOs, besides the people from business community to shape global, regional and industry agendas. He proposed Visakhapatnam to be the permanent venue for the regular summits of such forum.
“CII may have similar partnership summits with other States. But, the regular meetings of the forum that I am supposing permanently at Visakhapatnam must develop new initiatives and actions to help the common man,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister reiterated on strategy for achieving inclusive growth for real upliftment of the marginalized sections.
“I was Chief Minister for 9 years and was the leader of opposition for 10 years. Now I am again the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. My vast experience taught me to be keen on all parameters for inclusive growth that distributes the high growth being achieved equally to all sections of the society,” he said.
Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar announced setting up of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Visakhapatnam. Speaking on the occasion, union minister requested the Chief Minister to allocate 100 acres to NIPER, which would be set up with Rs. 600 crore. He also announced Medical devices manufacturing park with a potential investment of Rs.20,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh.
According to him, the country’s requirement of Medical Devices through indigenous production is not properly met.
“In the process of taking several steps to boost the domestic production of high end medical devices and pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, we require Medical devices manufacturing park in India. I am happy to announce one unit to Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
The premier centre for plastic engineering – Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Vijayawada would be further expanded for higher courses. He also made in-principle decision to set up petroleum complex by HPCL & GAIL in A.P.
Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju foresaw a sea-change in investment scenario with the upcoming Greenfield international airport at Bhogapuram.
In his valedictory speech, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan appreciated the CM’s proposal to hold Davos-type interface with stakeholders every year at Vizag under aegis of CII. However, he strongly suggested the Chief Minister to think for a Telugu word for the proposed session. According to him, ‘happiness quotient’ is the real benchmark for progress of any State. Referring to ‘AP’s hunger for investment’ which was evident at 3-day Summit, he commended the companies who inked MoUs with the State Government. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology ESSEL Group, Chairman Subhash Chandra, CII President and TIL CMD Sumit Mazumder were also present. (INN)
