AP to showcase its “Power” at CII Summit

Andhra Pradesh State government is all set to showcase its unique advantage of the lone State in the entire country, in the existing circumstances, to provide 24X7 power supply on a sustainable basis at global standards for attracting investments, in the forthcoming 22nd Partnership Summit, conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) that is going to be held in Visakhapatnam from January 10 to 12.

During the CII’s flagship summit which will be held for the first time in the truncated Andhra Pradesh State, the State Govt. was contemplating to enter into various Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with various international giants at national and international levels in the areas of Power Sector particularly Renewable Energy, Infrastructure projects, Ports and so on. The summit was aimed at actively engaging collaboration within the country and rest of the World to stimulate discussions among the key stakeholders, policy makers, Institutions, Business men and Academia.

“Power is critical input to the Industrial sector. And to transform A.P into a manufacturing hub, Export hub and for overall economic development to achieve double digit growth rate, as per the vision of Govt., 24X7 power supply is crucial. In my opinion mere extending 24X7 Power supply is not enough. It should be 100%interruption free and at par with global standards. We have to follow Global parameters such as System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) and System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) to monitor the power supply at State level, to ensure that power is not interrupted even for a single minute for industries. It will further enhance the credibility of govt. to attract investments universally. AP Power utilities should chalk out a comprehensive action plan and gear up to achieve that Goal.” instructed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his preparatory meeting with the Energy sector officials on the eve of the CII’s international summit, said Ajay Jain.

The AP Chief Minister will be inaugurating the prestigious CII international summit in Vishakhapatnam on January 10 and would make a keynote address duly emphasizing the advantages possessed by Andhra Pradesh in terms of investment potential and options available within the State, with focus on 24X7 power supply available in the State on sustainable basis. While inaugurating the summit, Chandrababu is expected to showcase the State as Sunrise state offering all the necessary infrastructure support, backing initiatives with the policy intervention, and his vision 2029 to develop this state as the best destination for the investments in the country, said Ajay Jain, Secretary, Energy I&I.

MOUs worth of several lakh crores of Rupees are going to be entered in the summit in different sectors, and the CM has given Green signal to the Energy I&I department to enter into MOUs worth one lakh crore.
