AP power utilities told to make contingency plans for uninterrupted power supply

Keeping in view the rise in scorching temperatures across the State, the AP power utilities, which have already achieved self-sufficiency in power generation, have further geared up for meeting the rise in energy demand due to increased usage of cooling equipment by the consumers. The utilities have been successful in supplying 24 X 7 quality power to all categories of consumers except Agriculture sector and are now meeting an average daily  demand of 158 MU.  Keeping this in view, the State government has directed the utilities to make contingency plan to maintain the same tempo of supplying of power without any interruptions by making regular field visits.

Further, the Govt.  has issued clear-cut instructions to the DISCOMs to achieve 100% household electrification  even in remote and tribal areas by next month.  Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will declare the completion of gigantic program of 100% households electrification and dedicate to the Nation on June 8.

 

Disclosing these details during a teleconference with over 10,000 employees fraternity of power sector, including the Junior Line Man (JLM), Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary (Energy, I&I, CRDA)  has said the State has so far electrified 1.37 lakh households during 2014-15 and 2.37 lakh households during 2015-16 and has to electrify the balance of 2.09 lakh households by next month.

The Principal Secretary interacted with grass root level staff of DISCOMs and strictly directed them to concentrate on addressing the consumers’ grievances on priority. Still some of the districts like Anantapur, Kurnool, Nellore, Prakasham and Vizianagaram have recorded highest Distribution Transformers failure rate of 15.1%,12.4%,13.2%, 10.9% &  9.3% respectively.  At any cost, failed DTRs should be replaced within 24 hours even in rural areas without single rupee burden on the consumers. Ajay Jain said the Chief Minister was keen on implementing the unique programs of SAIFI, SAIDI for achieving 100% interruption free power supply as per the international standards.    Accordingly interruptions in all the feeders of DISCOMs are being continuously monitored.
