AP police officer completes Athens Classic Marathon

Hyderabad, November 07: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah and DGP K Aravinda Rao have congratulated Ramesh Masthipuram, Superintendent of Police, for successfully completing the prestigious Athens Classic Marathon.

Of the 34 runners from India, Hyderabad had the distinction of sending the largest contingent, with 20 athletes, under the aegis of “Hyderabad Runners”, completing the 42.19km run held in the city of Marathoner on October 31.

The classic marathon, which has completed 28 years, this year coincided with the celebration of the 2,500th anniversary of the Marathon battle that marked the victory of the Greeks against the Persians in 490 BC.

On his return, Masthipuram today called on Rosaiah, who encouraged him to take up more such pursuits and be a source of inspiration to the state police, a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said here.
