Member, National Commission for Scheduled Castes Kamalamma said Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State governments have to provide protocol for the Commission.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, Kamalamma said from March last year, out of 169 petitions received by the SC commission, 26 cases were settled and the remaining in the process. She said the commission both Telugu States on June 11, 12 and 15 and received petitions from various departments. “During our visit to Cherlappally Jail in Hyderabad, we came to know that many under-trials were unable to get bail due to financial reasons. The inmates of the jail were working for low remuneration. We requested the State government to look into these issues and find early solution”, she said.
She further said, “In the District level review meeting, Collectors did not attend in two States. We will issue summons future if the situation continues. This has become a major hurdle for solving the petitions. Mainly, the Andhra Pradesh government’s response is not up to the mark towards the Commission”, she added. (NSS)
