AP Minister seeks Central funds for Women’s Welfare

Women Empowerment and Child Welfare Minister of Andhra Pradesh Peethala Sujatha on Tuesday called on the Union Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Sanjay Gandhi at Shashtri Bhavan and submitted memorandums for enhancement and release of additional funds in forth coming budget.

While briefing the media after the meeting, Sujatha said that she has explained all the ongoing schemes and programmes of Women Empowerment and Child Welfare in detail and also told that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was very keen in implementation of all women and child welfare programmes in Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister has congratulated Sujatha for successful implementation of ICDS schemes in Andhra Pradesh particularly for elimination of Malnutrition among women and children, reduction of IMR & MMR and expressed her regards to CM AP.

The Minister has submitted a memorandum to Maneka Gandhi for enhancement of honorarium to Anganwadi workers and helpers and also for enhancement of pension amount to the retired workers. In another representation she has requested the Union Minister for enhancement of Anganwadi Building construction amount from Rs.4.5 lakhs to Rs. 10.00 lakhs for each Anganwadi building, as a whole she requested the GOI to release Rs.874 Crs for Anganwadi buildings construction. She also requested the Union Government to release additional funds for Anganwadi constructions in forthcoming budget, Minister said. in another memorandum she requested the Union Minister to clear the submitted proposals for Rs 1.70 Crs for publicity campaign planed to conduct under “Beti Bachao – Beti Padavo” programme of GOI in Kadapa District where the female child population is more.

She informed that she invited the Union Minster to Andhra Pradesh to witness the implementation of the W & C programmes, for which Maneka Gandhi was positive and expected her visit in next financial year. (INN)
